T.S.A. terrorists to the population in the name of security.

Read and think of driving. I drive instead of fly to avoid the loss of my rights. This is just one of the many stories on the websight. It is alarming. As a side note from CAIR on the TSA :In the “special recommendations for Muslim women who wear hijab,” it states: “Before you are patted down, you should remind the TSA officer that they are only supposed to pat down the area in question, in this scenario, your head and neck. They SHOULD NOT subject you to a full-body or partial-body pat-down.”

It also states: “Instead of the pat-down, you can always request to pat down your own scarf, including head and neck area, and have the officers perform a chemical swipe of your hands.”

But for non muslim women.

Bob Hoover VW bug HVX

I read on his blog an entry from his wife that he lost his battle with cancer. Althoe I only knew him from e-mail exchanges and reading all of his posts on line that I could find, I will miss him. He in my mind, was a great man, and I am thankful for his teachings on VW engines, VW's, and mechanics in general. He introduced me to so much in a way that I could understand that, after more research into the new topics that he spoke of, I stopped my engine build and redesigned it based on what he taught. His HVX Mods were eye opening, as I had two VW bug engines die from overheating. I am better for having known him. I'm shure that I'm not the only one who has learned from him or who's life he has touched. My favorite story of his is the christ-mass engine. I never knew what a lube job was really supposed to be until his artical about lubing the bus. I am 41 and had never saw a correct lube job even-thoe I watched the mechanic add grease and call it a lube job. Thanks Mrs Hoover for sharing your husband with us.

Thanks.

Thanks to Dennis Bungo for his help getting to the airport and with assembling the bookshelves.

thaughts

My Dad and I were talking tonight about our lives and how one man can make a difference. It's been his theme with me since I've come home for a visit. I've been pondering a situation in which I am in. My Dad agrees with me on my solution's worth, it's benifits, and that I need to let the rest work itself out over time. We talked about it today as my recent attempt at bringing the extended family together failed misiberably. I failed to find out if little kids could skate at the rink I planned as the Saturday night family gathering spot. This little bit of missing info caused a lot of unintended damage due to emotions spilling over. Had I thaught to ask about this beforehand, the answer would have been just to go somewhere else. (Unfortunately I did not realize the answer untill later while thinking what just happened here?) In our talks, my Dad told stories of how he made a difference in other peoples lives: (for example, organizing a huricane Katrina relief truck which sent one Bekins semi-truck, full of relief supplies, to help the hurricane victims). His other point has been how one man can make a difference in a persons life: (for example, in high school my locker was broken into emptied and the school said I had to pay to replace my textbooks even thoe my locker was broken into. My Dad persuaded the head security guy to replace my books which made a difference in my life as they were expensive.) He is a great dad and has always been an important influence in my life. Something I try to do for my daughter. Unfortunately calling to see if little children could skate or if people could afford to go was not something I thaught of. Together we looked for something positive in tonights events. (The rink owner/workers turned out to be the same people with whom I worked at "The ELMHURST Skating rink" aka "THE ELM" when I was a senior in high school. It's where I bought my used speed skates from ED, the same ED who was running the door tonight.) What my Dad was/is telling me is to watch my thaughts as we all have crazy thaughts and while we are not always responsible for the first thaught we are for the second one. Which way my life goes is resultant on my thaughts. It's powerful and effective, to make a statement in the positive and present moment. You may have heard this saying already but it's powerful and worth repeating. "Be careful of your thaughts for they become your words and emotions! Be careful of your words for they become your actions! Be careful of your actions for it becomes your habits! Be careful of your habits for they become your behavior! Be careful of your behavior for it becomes your life!" With my life and my current situation I can make a positive difference and that is what my Dad and I believe I can do.

ebay

Ebay is a very good place to learn things. It is a good reserch tool. For example I bought a used apple powermac g5 dual 2 ghz computer. So far it is very nice. One must look at alot of listings to learn offered features and value. Mine had the correct model number but the wrong processer description. so I ended up with a 2003 (dual processer) vs 2005 (dual core). There was more than enough information in the listing but I failed to reconize it. Neither could run snow lepord and Im running lepord but the extra 8 gig of ram would have been nice. Using ebay listings I have learned a lot of company history and product offerings for numerous toppics such as my topper Johnny lightning collection. My computer is awsome and ny error has allowed me to find out about and buy the video card that will drive the dual 30 " displays for a very small amount. I found it listed for 139 to 700 (all used). I bought the $139.00 one. Im going to see if the sony handy cam I have will connect via firewire like the one I saw on Ebay listed for $209.00. Some guys are using them as their webcam using record without a tape installed. It also provides a way to download all the old family videos into the computer onto a more usefull and shareable media.

beach

Went to the beach today. It was awsome! One of the benifits of living here in Florida.  I enjoyed the sunset from the water. I stayed out there untill the water started to cool off.  If you enjoy sunsets and stars this place rocks. One couple (retired) watched the sunrise in Daytona and the sunset here in Crystal River.  We had dolfins, flying fish and of course lots of seagulls.

today

today I am at work. Thanks Dennis Bungo for helping clean the garage and thanks Liz for the bed set. My garage is now clean and with a little bit of shuffling it will be well organized. My daughter Jacquellynne is turning into a little woman right before my eyes. Soon there will be nothing left of the little girl, but a little woman instead. Shane is an awsome little boy I enjoy his insite and watching him explore his world with new wonder in his eyes. Between the two of them I resee my world in new ways each day.

somender singh grooves

I tried the grooves on my 1600 cc vw engine. I put new pistons, rings, and rebuilt heads. I set the compression ratio at 7 as per my knowledge at the time (Geen Berg book).  I edged the heads (as per Dana 44's edging from the alpar forumn.)  My heads had 2 grooves pointing toward the exhaust point side of the spark plug. The rebuilt heads with the grooves pulled very well smooth power up to the limit that my small carberator appeared to set.  I ran the car around the block to seat the new rings and raced it up and down.  With the engine tuned in it would idle at 500 rpm with the vac advance /retard distrbuitor set at 5 deg after top dead center to ~`28 at 3000 rpm.  The alternator did not like 500 rpm as the gen trouble light would flicker untill I reved it. The generator light stayed out with the idle set at 700 rpm. Upon return from my trip to seat the rings I noticed that the rear wheels were smoking!!  My car having sat for so long (~12 years) seized the brakes which I did not reconize as the motor pulled right through them.  Upon inspection I found that only one side of the front was working the rest were siezed from sitting so long.  While I was waiting for a new right hand drive master cylinder and wheel cylinders from England, I would run the motor once a week for ~10-15 minuits. One day the tune changed. It had a nice low rumble at idle.  I shut it off after I heard a "put put " sound from #3 spark plug area.  The rebuilt head had a thread insert in it on the #3 plug. Something I did not like but as I traided for the rebuilt heads it was what I got.  The insert failed and I found the spark plug was dangling outside of the head.

I have since started a complete rebuild with new parts. The reason I did the top end rebuild was the previous heads overheated and cracked from the exhaust valves to the spark plug when the fan ate part of the tarboard insulation that I put in to deaden the engine noise. (My fault It had a tear and I drove alot on the high way. )

I think the grooves worked well.  I ran 7:1 compression which I should have bumped up to 8.5 or 9.  My new heads will have dana44's edging and one somender singh groove aimed at the left of the spark plug.  The grooves speed up the burn a little and appear to like less timing.  However I do not have much time playing with them due to the failure of the spark plug insert.
